SITE UTILITY UPGRADE
After much preparation and deliberation meant to minimize the impacts of the upgrades to the Campus Utility Systems; work will begin on Monday September 22nd. This work consists of replacing: Sanitary Sewer, Storm Drainage System, Fire & Domestic Water lines, Natural Gas Pipe, Power Distribution Grid, and Fiber Optics.
The first section runs from the NW corner of the Communications Building to Cesar Chavez. Work is divided into 3 segments with a summary below:
Work begins at the Communications Building and goes west into lot #5 where it turns south towards Cesar Chavez.
This segment will begin September 22nd and has a duration of 5-6 weeks.
Work begins at Cesar Chavez where it exits the building near the IT Department and extends north toward the Women's Gym.
This segment will begin September 29th and has a duration of 5-6 weeks.
Once both of the first segments are completed then the center segment will begin and connect the two.
It is anticipated that will start in November and be completed in mid-January 2009.
The attached picture (Site Work Begins Sept 22) gives an overview of each segment and the impact.
CENTRAL PLANT EXPANSION
As you may have seen the Central Plant has seen much demolition and earth work for the new Ice Chiller and Thermal Storage Tanks.
Beginning September 30th the first of the Concrete pours will begin.
This will require bringing up to 30 Concrete Trucks through the Campus to its central core where the Central Plant is located.
To ensure the safety of everyone the trucks will enter through the entrance to Lot #5 and be staged in the parking lot.
As needed during the pour the tricks will drive between Theater Arts and the Radiation Technology buildings.
As they leave the parking lot they will be escorted by a flagger that will be walking them through and providing safe passage
for all pedestrians near this route.
As they finish the Trucks will continue east and exit the Campus onto Vermont Avenue.
The attached picture (Central Plant Concrete Pour) will help to show the route to be used.
