Valley College

Los Angeles Valley College is located in the heart of Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley. Founded in 1949, LAVC is an urban oasis containing over 1,800 trees and plants and is the first community college in California to earn a Tree Campus USA designation multiple times. Over 140 associate degree programs and certificate programs are offered at LAVC. Popular majors include Accounting, Administration of Justice, Biology, Business Management, Child Development, Computer Applications & Office Technology, Engineering, Fire Technology, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Mathematics, Media Arts, Music, Psychology, Registered Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Sociology. Valley College is currently undergoing a $612 million renovation and building project to renovate existing buildings and build new sustainable buildings. Existing classroom buildings are being updated with new technology and energy efficient standards. In addition, all new campus structures are being built as LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) buildings.

Its updated Educational and Facilities Master Plans, will help drive the college's vision for the future.

LEEDing the Way in Green Building

(LOS ANGELES, CA) - The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is leading the way among green buildings for educational institutions. Many of LACCD’s newest and soon to be opened campus facilities, constructed under its BuildLACCD campus improvement program, are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) certified or higher by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED™ designation is an internationally recognized designation for buildings that are resource efficient, use less water and energy to operate and reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions.
