The Martin Luther King Jr. Library will serve as the new gateway to Los Angeles City College.
- MLK Library will house:
- Electronic classrooms
- Computer and general study areas
- Seventeen soundproof group study rooms for up to 10 students with computer access
- Administrative offices
- Enhancing Learning Environments:
- Open floor plans and strategically located service desks will maximize staff visibility.
- A variety of seating/study areas will provide students with study options in a variety of innovative spaces such as: individual carrels with views of the campus; casual lounge seating; and several t types of computer carrels with laptop accessibility.
- Efficient design
and implementation of advanced technology will change the way students access information.
- Sustainable Design:
- Ample windows will provide students with natural lighting, views of the campus and the surrounding Hollywood Hills.
- Along the south and east sides of the building, sun shading fins will help curtail heat and glare while minimizing disruption of the views.
